Thanksgiving Weirdness

We are so frustrated, once again, with my son's teacher. If she got hit by a bus tomorrow, I *might* be able to muster up an insincere "oh gee, that's too bad." She is just plain mean, and I have a very hard time looking her in the eye when I talk to her. It makes me feel...exposed? Uncomfortable. Afraid that my dislike will show and that my son will pay the price. I think he already is, in some ways. This time, we got the principal involved, and hopefully she will get the message that she is going to have to *gasp* give a little more to the kid WHO'S IEP CALLS FOR IT!

I'll be cooking some tonight, but I'm only responsible for three dishes, and Bean is eager to help. You know I don't normally *do* football, but the Alabama/Auburn game is on Saturday and when I remember (it's been a few years), I like to watch. I don't care who wins (I just alienated several friends from both schools), it just feels a little like home to watch.

Have a happy, safe, and wonderful Thanksgiving!

*~*~*

And now for Wednesday Weirdness:

1. What are you thankful for this year?
I'm thankful that my family is still intact. I'm grateful for the man who stuck it out. I'm grateful for my health and the speed with which I bounced back from the Frankenbelly incident. I'm grateful that I have been able to achieve the physical and work-related goals I set for myself. I'm grateful for the love and acceptance I get from my friends. I have been a lucky girl this year.

2. Since some of our participants are not in the US, what do you think about Thanksgiving?
Well, I
am in the U.S., but I will say that I am all for a holiday that only requires giving thanks and eating!

3. What is your favorite part of the holiday/ your least favorite.
The food. On the rare years I am able to spend it with my family, that tops it all. My least favorite is the fact that it really kicks off the frenzy. The count down every day that reminds me that I have, once again, waited until the last minute.

4. Mashed Potatoes or Sweet Potatoes?
Yes! I adore mashed potatoes and gravy. I like mine with the skins on, but the only time I get them that way is if I make them myself. I also love the sticky sweet goodness that is sweet potato casserole. My least favorite part of Thanksgiving food is the turkey. I know...blasphemy. I can live with it.

5. Do you own eating pants? Describe.
*
LOL* It took me the longest time to figure out what the hell this meant. I kept putting the emphasis on the wrong word, and that threw me way off. Then *ding*.

No, I do not. I can't stand the feeling of being full. It makes me panic. There is no food in this world that is good enough to make it worth that feeling. That's what leftovers are for, people!

And speaking of leftovers...

6. What is your favorite thing to do with the Thanksgiving leftovers?
Er...eat them? I can't figure out an alternative answer to this one. I guess it would be to describe how. I'll eat leftover stuffing and sweet potatoes for breakfast, lunch, dinner...I don't care. I'm of the opinion that stuffing is actually better as a leftover. It gets gooier (That doesn't look right to me, but spell check didn't like my way of spelling it. Then again, spell check doesn't like contractions, either.)

7. Who are you most looking forward to seeing? Least?
I answered this in my head last night, and thought there isn't anyone who fits either description. This year, we are here at home with my
ILs, and I'm glad to see everyone, but no one in particular.

This morning, however, I remembered that there is one person that I don't look forward to seeing at these family events. This sounds awful, but it's my
SIL youngest boy. He's six months older than my son, and sometimes he's not very nice to him. He doesn't exactly make fun of him, but he does make snide remarks and roll his eyes. His older brother gets onto him about it, which makes me love HIM. My SIL doesn't seem to notice. Cousins should be "family"...people who accept you.

8. Do you go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving?
Good lord, are you fucking kidding me? Why does anyone do this?

13 humored me by saying something:

You might watch the Auburn vs Alabama game? Oh honey, we have not raised you right! How can any true blue Alabama girl even consider skipping this game?

Happy Thanksgiving, gorgeous!

Two weeks in a row and you crush me. First, you don't secretly have any fantasies about your friends' significant others and then you don't care who wins... WTF. You have been up north way too long.

I've never understood the "sport" of Black Friday shopping either - isn't shopping at a regular time - with regular people - deploring enough??

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Black Friday shopping is so anti-me that my friends and I joke about meeting each other at the mall.

Then again, I'm kinda anti-shopping all the time.

That's what the internets are for!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I believe that your school system has a legal obligation to educate your children. Perhaps a nice person with a right to practice law in your state could remind them of this fact. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Liked your first answer!

I'm a skins-on taters kind of guy myself, but I think the rest of the family would have a problem with that.

Hope you have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!!

I went to a hockey school, and I still prefer it to football. Nobody watches hockey games after Thanksgiving dinner, though.

I do not shop in stores much anymore. Just the grocery store. I do almost all of my Christmas shopping at Amazon.com. In fact, I'm pretty much done with Christmas shopping. Just gotta get a little something for my sisters, and they both have wish lists. Easy peasy.

Yep - I agree - about the belly-packing.

May the turkey be stuffed, but not the rest of us?

(Ow. That probably offended someone.)

8-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Blessings,
Linda

Oh, nobody in their right mind would go on Black Friday!

*snicker* ....eating pants....

Once upon a time my ex husband loved for me to make turkey lasagna with the leftovers. Or we'd make 'special' turkey sandwiches (mine minus the turkey, lol).

Have a great Thanksgiving sweetie!!!

I am thankful every day for your incredible inner strength, and for the way you overcame the catastrophe that almost took you away from all of us forever. I am thankful for each moment that I reach out and find you there. I am thankful for this great family we have made, and for our success in overcoming such huge challenges, proving to ourselves how awesome we are as a team.

I am thankful that you wouldn't even think of going shopping on Black Friday. (Its a good Steely Dan song, though!). I think we should change it to "Stay in bed and work off the holiday indulgence Friday"

My wife is a high school biology teacher so I have a little familiarity with IEP’s – what is the issue with this teacher? Doesn’t she follow the IEP?
