When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.

Just now, before bed...

Bean: (voice lowered and speaking out of the side of her mouth) Don't tell anyone...*shifty eyes searching the area for possible eavesdroppers*...but I think Sean is cute.

Me: It'll be our secret.

It gave me warm fuzzies that she told me. I never would have told my mother such a thing.

Shut up. I know I just told the whole world.

9 humored me by saying something:

I wouldn't have told my mom either. That's wonderful that you have that kind of relationship. :)

It is beautiful and wonderful the things that go between Moms and their kids. What is even more amazing is how those relationships evolve with age as to what they confide to you and what they'll tell SNB as he becomes the prominent parent. It goes back and forth as they mature and it's amazing to watch. In my particular situation, I have sort of a microcosm of all those phases that I can see at once and sometimes it's a sociological marvel to behold. Enjoy these times and cherish them.

I love it when a child trusts me enough with their secrets. It means I'm an important person in thier lives. It means we're doing something right for them to confide in us. You rock mom!

(ps~I'd never have told my mother anything either!!)

We'll never tell, but can you email the G's a picture of Sean so we can vote?

This is a two-edged sword... one day, they're telling you this, and just a minute later, they're warning you not to use a certain condom b/c it makes the sex last too long... sigh. They just grow up so fast...

FMD - You can bet I've anticipated playing the "super hero dad" role - one I try to enjoy - and earn - every day! But there are already times I can sense the eye-rolling disgust that the girl will heap onto me when I get to the "you suck royally" phase of existence with her - when she becomes the early-teen master of all wisdom, and I devolve into the idiot of all times. Being Superman is surely more enjoyable than being Lex Luthor is gonna be...

Too adorable.

SNB - My dad dies before we really got past the "you suck royally" phase. Take good care of yourself, because my daddy only became my superhero again posthumously, so he never got to enjoy it.
